Panicking Addie

Kevin: "You had dinner, it doesn't matter about lunch!  Please go brush your teeth"

Addie: "Dinner wasn't enough, otherwise I wouldn't be panicking right now!"

Kevin: "........you'll be okay, I promise you."

I love this girl and all the great word choices she uses!!

Impossible

Today I told Addie to clean up the few items on either side of the play house in the hall and she was exasperated and declared, "It's impossible for any human to do that."  Oh my, what a statement.  I then explained to her that I cleaned the entire bathroom for her already which was worse than the hallway and I survived.  She would survive too.  She repeated her statement though later I discovered she was successful in completing her "impossible" task.

Addieism

While driving home from the movie tonight Addie noticed a car being towed by a flat bed truck and said,  "Mommy,  look how much fun that car is having."

Where's the Pizza?

Glenn: do we have more pizza in the fridge?
Dad: we're not having pizza for dinner.
Glenn: do we have more pizza in the fridge? (again)
Dad: we're not having pizza for dinner. (again)
Glenn: Is it in the fridge? Where is it?  I know we have some.
Dad: You're going to try the dinner Kaila made
(He liked it too.)

The Story of the Empty Tootsie Roll Wrapper

Today I went to go out to the garage to get more wipes and saw by garage door an empty tootsie roll wrapper.  I asked Glenn and Addie who ate the candy and left the wrapper there.  Glenn quickly said not me. I asked Addie and she said she didn't eat it.  Glenn said Addie ate it. I looked at Glenn and said, "Addie doesn't eat chocolate. She wouldn't have eaten this candy." I looked at Glenn and asked, "Did you eat this candy."  He shook his head no.  I asked, "Did you eat this candy yesterday."  He then said, "yes."  I looked at him and repeated, "Did you eat this candy."  He again said no.  I then explained to him that if he put it in his mouth either today or yesterday the answer to that question is Yes!  It has nothing to do with which day he ate it.

Oh, boy.  This boy is very literal!  I'm going to have to watch how I word things to him in the future.  I now wonder how many things I have asked that he answer in the present tense and not just in general.  Oh boy.

A Drop of Honey

I took all the kids with me to Enrichment Night at church so Kevin could have a free night too (which he used to go and see a movie), yeah for free babysitting and allowing both parents to be rejuvenated. I didn't realize how late it was when we got back home from the park and then needing to leave (especially with in my head thinking that I didn't need to worry about dinner since dinner was provided).  Thankfully Kevin thought to ask about the kids needing to eat.  He made sandwiches quickly for them while I finished feeding Rowan on the couch.

While driving over to the church the kids ate their sandwiches. The big kids in the back were eating just fine while Addie was finishing up her gogurt and other snack before eating her sandwich.  The next thing I know while driving Addie is gagging and choking on her food.  I panicked and asked her what was going on.  She said it was honey and she was trying to spit gag up every last drop of the honey.  I told her to be a big girl and just swallow it, that she use to eat it, and she would be fine.  I reached back and grabbed the wet wipes out of the diaper bag since they were thankfully on the top and handed her a couple to clean up her mess. She tried eating it again and couldn't do it.  I asked Kaila if she had jam, which she said she did but she had already eaten her entire sandwich and couldn't share.

The funny thing was when we arrived at the church Addie was getting out of the car and said to me, "Oh no Mom.  This is so not good.  I got honey on my shirt."  I told her that wasn't good and handed her another wet wipe. Silly girl!!

The Enrichment Activity was wonderful.  I invited my mom to join us for the night which she accepted!  It was so nice to have her there and the other ladies at our table thanked me for bringing her too.  Rowan loved all the the cuddles her received from Nana as well.  I loved the yummy Cafe Rio Salads, Delicious coconut rolled ice cream, and the beautiful program with wonderful speakers.  It was wonderful to have Sister Shari Southworth (Sister South) speak to us one last time.  She moved out of our ward into the Jorgensen's basement apartment the last Saturday of September.  One chapter closing with her as out RS president for the past 4 year when the ward was reorganized.  Sister Jennifer Stagg is our new RS President.  I know she will do amazing things in her new calling.  We will miss her in Primary though.  I loved the slide show that Brandi Pappenfuss put together of all the pictures of sisters in our ward and pics from the different activities from the year.  It was wonderful.

Addie was so sweet as we entered the cultural hall as I was taking them across quietly to the nursery room she said, Mommy there's my teacher.  I asked who.  She told me it was Sydnee's mommy.  Oh that melted my heart and broke it at the same time knowing that Jen won't be in Primary anymore but so happy for the lasting impression she has made on my daughters life that she found her in a crowd of people.

Glenn ate what?

Addie woke up in a panic crying so hard.  I hurried to her room thinking she must have fallen off the bed.  I found her on her bed sobbing.  I hugged her and asked what was wrong.

Addie: Glenn pulled the kitty out of the drawer and ate it?
Me: Glenn ate the kitty?
Addie: Yes
Me: Addie, it's a dream sweetie.  Glenn's sleeping in his own bed.
Addie: No, he pulled the kitty out of the drawer and ate it. (voice getting stronger and more determined)
Me: Well, that had to be gross.
Addie: (Sobs harder, guess she didn't like that response)
Me: I'm sorry Addie. Mommy's here now so it will be okay.
(That calmed her a little. Hugged her for a bit and then started to leave.)
Addie: (Sobbing again) I want Daddy.
Me: He had a meeting but I'll see if he's home. Close your eyes and try to sleep.
Addie: okay

Poor girl.  That was one terrifying dream.

Addie's Crocodile

Addie: Mom, I finished.

Mom: Okay, I'm coming.

Addie: I went a lot a poop.

Mom: Yes, you did.

Addie: I made a crocodile.

Mom: (laughing) You did?

Addie: I see his head.

How many more days till my birthday?

As Kevin was retucking Kaila back into bed she asked him, "How many more days till my birthday?"  He said, "Three more days and then it will be your birthday."  She looked at him and replied, "I'm going to eat those two days so it will be one and then it will be my birthday."  She started giggling and so did Kevin.  I think someone is super excited for her birthday.

Full Night

Beautiful Sunset driving Home
I took all the kids to Enrichment Night since Kevin was working.  Thankfully my mom was able to pick up Kaila from soccer practice and bring her there since Enrichment started at 6:30 and soccer didn't get over until 7pm.

While trying to get Kaila to soccer Addie threw one of her princess crock shoes out the window that I had just given her a few hours earlier.  I was driving down Chase and heard Addie say, "I drop my shoe." I told her we would get it when we got to soccer.  She always is taking her shoes off and throwing them on the floor as we drive places.  Then as I turned on to 282nd from Chase I heard terror coming from the backseat as Addie exclaimed, "MY SHOE!!! MY SHOE!!"  It was then that I put two and two together.  The window was down since it was hot in the car (80 degree day) and she must have thrown her shoe outside instead of on the floorboard.  I made a u-turn in a neighborhood and headed back to Chase, turned  back on the road, and slowly went up the road and told all the kids to look out the window for her shoe.  After we got past the spot I remembered her saying she dropped her shoe we went back down the road again.  This time I stopped only to find garbage.  The next thing I saw was her shoe.  A LUCKY GIRL!  I put it on her foot and rolled up the window and locked it for good measure.  The stinker!  We got to Soccer at 6:30 instead of 6:15 and I was late for Enrichment now.

Thankfully Enrichement was wonderful.  It was a celebration on Motherhood and Womanhood.  We were served grilled chicken, salad, rolls, and fruit. The high priests served our dinner and one even recited the talk given a few years ago by Elder Utchdorf on "The Forget Me Not."  It was wonderful.

Sadly our 1st counselor in the RS Presidency, Linda Hinshaw had suffered a heart attach at work that afternoon so the President was at the hospital with her and they had to find other men to take over making the meat since it was Linda's husband cooking it and he needed to be at the hospital with his wife.

Critics

Glenn did you like the movie?

"I didn't like the bad parts but I did like the good parts."

Kaila did you like it?

"Yeah, it was a little scary though"

Would you recommend Makenna and Lizzy watching it?

"I think yes, MaKenna is older than me so she would be not as scared as I was."

The Light

While driving to a play date at the Richardson's house Addie was asking me a bunch of questions on the drive there.  This was our conversation.

A: Mom turn the light on.
Me: What light?
A: the light mom
Me: I don't know what light you are talking about (not wanting to turn on the car light)
A: the BIG Light mom
Me: What big light?  The Sun?
A: Yes
Me: Oh, it's behind the clouds.  It will come out later.
A: Okay

German?

Tonight while I was folding laundry I was singing the alphabet and then I sang it again in German.  Glenn came up to me and asked me to sing it in Spanish.  I told him that I didn't know it in Spanish that I was speaking in German.  He looked up at me and said, "Uhh?"  The kids only know of two languages spoken in the world, Spanish and English.  They have no idea there are lots more languages. It was pretty funny, the look of confusion on his face.

Tickles

I was tickling Addie on the couch and she started saying to Stop.  I asked her why since she was laughing.  She responded with, "I don't know."  It was too funny that she knew she was laughing but also knew she didn't want it.  :-)  I did stop but had a little laugh about it too.

NOT HUNGRY

Today the most remarkable words came out of Adelaide's mouth, "Me NOT hungry!"  After eating lots of crepes she really shouldn't be hungry but she NEVER says that to us ever.  She's constantly saying that she's hungry but today she pointedly went up to Kevin and told him, "Me NOT hungry."  We all clapped and cheered and she came up to me to tell me two more times.  It was wonderful while it last.  20 minutes later she was saying she was hungry and wanted a snack.  I got her an orange.

Silly Water

As Addie was getting ready for bed she asked for her water.  I told her I didn't know where her water was. She took off and I walked into her room to check her bed.  I found it almost empty and was walking out of her room calling her as I was going to fill up the bottle.  She called to me back and I found her half way up the stairs with another water bottle she had found.  She looked at me with the one I had in my hand and started grinning and then laughing at how funny it was that we had both found a water bottle.  I love that she can see the humor in that situation at only 2 years old!

Time to sleep?

After I put Addie to bed I was walking down the stairs and heard her calling yet again for me.  I walked in to her room and she said, "I hungry."  This is her usually response.  Tonight I KNEW she wasn't hungry because she had eaten and eaten so much food it would be nearly impossible for her to be hungry.  I told her she couldn't be hungry since she had eaten so much.  She then puts her foot up in the air and says, "I hurt."  I kissed her foot and said she's fine.  She opens her mouth to say something else and I quietly told her, "Addie no more excuses.  It's time to go to bed.  Close your eyes and go to sleep."  She looks up at me and responds, "Oh, Time to sleep."  I said yes.  She said okay and rolled to her side and closed her eyes.  It was like a realization that it was time to sleep.  I guess the whole being put in her crib with our whole night time routine (PJ's, brush teeth, floss, vitamin, song, scripture, prayer, book) wasn't enough to signal that it was really time to go to sleep.  Crazy girl.  She actually never called out again which was wonderful.  Some nights it's never ending.

After relating the story to Kevin he told me about what happened earlier in the day with Addie.  She had found one of the Headbandz game pieces on the floor.  She picked it up and was telling Kevin, "Put up on the aaaahhhh..."  She noticed the game wasn't in time out on the refrigerator any more and was puzzled mid sentence.  He said it was so cute to see her realize that as he was talking to her.
