Scrub a dub dub

The kids LOVE bath time.  It's so cute to see them all play together.  Addie is "trying" to learn her letters sort of and all the kids practice their swimming skills.  Glenn loves to close his eyes and blow bubbles under the water.  It's so cute to see how proud they are of each other.

Bath Time

Kaila LOVED taking a bath  all by herself and enjoyed organizing all the toys.

Today was a great day.  I'm slowly implementing a few of  FLY Lady's ideas and started with a few loads of laundry. Not 1 like she says and not all of it like I usually do twice a week.  I have found that it frees my mind up and I don't feel guilty if it doesn't all get done that day.  Nice for me and my little mommy complex. I spent quiet time today going through old CD's and discarding some...more purging of my 40 bag challenge.  I also reorganized the kids DVD's into a case...hoping that will help save the DVD's that get left out all the time AND makes less of a mess with all the DVD cases all over the place.  A win-win for all, well...Addie misses out on making a huge mess.  She's don't it numerous times already so I'm not feeling too badly about it.

We did have some fun today.  I found a new show for the kids to watch "Jake and the Pirates."  Glenn loves it!  I put it on while I cooked dinner.  Delish by the way...Chicken Tortilla Soup from my friend Emily's Food Blog.  So good!  Kaila LOVED it too.  Glenn ate if after being told he wouldn't get a cookie and having the timer set for 5 minutes since he was DRAGGING out the process while bother his sister at the same time.  He finished it in 1 minute at that point and got his no bake cookie that I made after making dinner.  Addie HATED it and threw a FIT!  I huge one.  I was trying to really make her eat it.  I even took out the beans which she normally will eat on their own and she threw them across the room.  Lovely...I made her a PB/honey sandwich instead and she wouldn't eat that either BUT wanted everyone's cookie or their food until she realized it was the same dish.  I was trying to get her to eat one single bite of he sandwich (being 1) but she wouldn't.  Finally I shoved it in her mouth and kept my hand over her mouth so she couldn't spit it out and then put some cookie into (what she'd been wanting).  She ended up spitting out the cookie and eating the sandwich bite.  Crazy child.  She didn't really like the cookie either.  (Just now realized it's because it was chocolate and she doesn't really like chocolate.) What fun.  I'm thinking we will be down this road many more times with her.

My mom bless her heart make me a PB/J sandwich for dinner if I didn't like what was made.  That was my option or to go hungry.  I was so picky growing up and thankfully had a mom that cared that I also had a bad gage reflux and sensitive taste buds.  I never HAD to eat the dinner (though I had to try it) and then she would make me a sandwich.  I have decided to do the same with my sweet kids.

We had a little fun tonight breaking apart the last Christmas decor in the house (ginger bread house).  Our dear friend, Joann brought it over for the kids.  Kaila really didn't want to break it.  She loved it and thought it was beautiful.  She literally got tears in her eyes thinking of breaking it apart.  Glenn was all for it though and ready to smash it to pieces.  I pulled out the rolling pin and wooden spoon for them to smash it in.  It was so fun to watch but a major "snow" mess as Kaila liked to say.  After a while I gave the kids 5 minutes to eat what they wanted and the rest was going in the trash and we were taking baths.  They were completely fine with the game plan.  YEAH!

The Aftermath

My silly boy...Growling at me as he eats his candy

Daddy surprised us even by coming home while the kids were in their bath.  What fun.  We thought they weren't going to see him today since he was actually "shooting" for this job.  It was his first time so we didn't know what to expect.  What fun...other than Addie pooping in the tub AGAIN. My other kids NEVER pooped in the tub and here Addie does it for the 4th time out of the last 5 baths.  If she isn't poopy before getting in she always poops while in the tub.  GROSS!

LM is getting so strong! Check out his latest "trick"

Well, my back is still doing okay. It's not all better so I will be going back on Tuesday for some more "needle therapy" but I am a true believer and I HATE needles. We had a wonderful and relaxing day today as a family. DD had a rough morning (waking up WAY too early again). She was so cranky and is still throwing things when she's upset. I hope after at least 2 weeks of us putting her in time out for that she will stop. We are now putting her in time out in her room. She hates it again. The end of the hall wasn't working anymore unless we held her there. She thought it was a game to come out and run back before we got to her. I'm just glad something is working. LM didn't really nap much today until about 6:30pm tonight. I pray he sleeps tonight for us.

Both kids lucked out with baths from Daddy! I just love kids wrapped up in a towel. They are just adorable and smell so good.
She LOVES reading books and is obsessed with animal sounds.

Playtime with Daddy is DD's favorite time!
Playtime is the best time...especially spinning.
.

Tomorrow our home teacher (friend from church) and his family are coming over to help us weed since I am out of commission with my back. I think I won't be doing much weeding anymore this year except to maintain the little bit I did earlier so my back doesn't go out again. It's just not worth it and my family needs me functioning more than a nice looking yard. I'm so excited for help! His family will be coming over too so DD will have some buddies to play with in the morning. It will be so nice. Later at night we are going over to a friends for a BBQ. It should be a very fun day

March 12, 2009

A yawn and a wink! (with a smear on the camera lens...hence the blurry top left corner).

I'm feeling even better today which is wonderful! DD is a little better too. At least she didn't sleep all morning. She's still very clingy and wouldn't let DH put her down at all so DH couldn't eat until I got up to hold her but then I had to feed LM and shower before he and his mom took off for the play we had tickets to see. I decided to stay behind this time to be with DD and since I'm still sick and let DH take his mom to the play. We didn't think it would be fair for grandma to tend the sick, clingy, and cranky child. I was really bummed to be missing it too because it was one of the 'bigger' plays we were seeing.

LM napped earlier and I can't get him to now. He's being good for the moment in his swing but I don't know how long that will last. I also think he's draining my milk supply. I use to feed him just on one side at a time but starting last night he needs both sides and then this morning he still seemed hungry. I think it maybe time for another growth spurt. He is almost 2 months so it's right on schedule. I can't believe he's getting so big! He's so much more aware of his surroundings and is able to open and close his hand with more control. He even held a small toy two days ago. It's amazing how quickly they start to do things.

We tend to get 7 straight hours of sleep every night now with LM and it's wonderful. I'm waiting for him to drop his last early morning feeding so we will be completely sleeping through the night. I can't complain though since he only wakes up once in a 12 hour span to eat and be changed.

It was gorgeous today! I wanted to take DD and LM for a walk today but after thinking about it realized that wouldn't be the brightest idea to go out with bronchitis and DD with Croup so we stayed in. At least in CA it's in the 70's! I can't wait to be there next week. I'm planning on lots of walks and play time at the park.
Poor DD with her being sick when DH got her up from her nap this was what her nose looked like.

So today DD woke up from her nap after only a little over an hour so I let her fuss and she fell back asleep. We actually had to wake her up to make it to our WIC appointment. They took her iron count while there and she finally passed! Yeah, now she doesn't get poked for another year. I'm so glad she's finally eating meat even if it takes dipping it in ketchup, LOL! I passed too which was great since I haven't eaten much or well since being sick. LM is getting huge. He now weighs 12lbs 4.8oz and is 22inches tall! She said whatever I'm doing with him is working and is great. His height to weight ratio is in the 90%. He's a chubby little thing according to their stats. We'll see where he falls on the doctor's charts at the end of the month.

We had fondue for dinner tonight and DD actually liked it! I'm so surprised. She's getting so much better about trying out new foods. She thought it was hilarious for us to be dipping our food. I guess it is a strange idea when you think about it. She wanted tons of sausage. DH didn't think it's the healthiest thing (which it's not) but hey, it's meat and she likes it!

After dinner DD and DH gave LM a bath. DD is loving being able to help out with LM and thankfully LM is starting to like baths better too!

I'm having to take the mini pill since I'm breastfeeding LM and I'm having break through bleeding with them (VERY ANNOYING). My OB says there is nothing I can do about it since I'm breastfeeding. I never had that problem with DD. She told me the only thing I could do was to get a 5 year IUD but there could still be break through bleeding with that but the 10 year IUD doesn't have any break through bleeding. I'm scared to death of the IUD's though from my mom's horrible experience and I don't even want to try it. 10 years is just scary too. I think that would really screw up your body! I think I will stick with the mini pill and my spotting!

March 11, 2009

Our sweet BOY! Oh, how I love him.

I gave DD a bath tonight. She loved the water and started lining up her toys on the side of the bath tub. It was so fun to watch her play. I actually brought a chair in to sit in (way more comfy than the toilet seat). DD thought it was pretty funny to have a chair in there and laughed at me.

So I mentioned a diaper to DH and DD heard me and went into the babies changing table and found a diaper and also brought out a package of wipes for us too! It was so cute to see her being so helpful. She left again and returned with LM's shoes. She LOVES shoes and is semi obsessed with them. She's definitely a girl.

The sick girls lying on the couch together.

Today was a very lazy day. I'm still in my PJ's (at the end of the day) in fact though that's been my wardrobe the last week. I slept in till almost 11. DH and DD were asleep on the couch when I came out of our room. I found out later they ate breakfast and went back to sleep. DD walked over to me so I took her to our bed and laid her down so I could change LM's diaper. She actually fell asleep on our bed by herself (she NEVER does that). DH moved her to sleep on the bed with her so I could tend to LM. DH slept till 1pm and DD woke up a bit after 2pm. Then later she curled up next to me on the couch and fell asleep from 5-7pm. My poor baby is so sick. We put her to bed at 9 and she went down without a fuss. I pray she feels better tomorrow. DH was slightly worried about her because she fell off some stairs at DH's basketball game last night. it was about a 4 foot drop but I think she was fine (just scared). She hasn't acted this tired or sick the entire week. I hope she's better before Saturday night when we drive off for CA. Thankfully I'm feeling a little better. The meds seem to be helping!
Today when I laid LM on the play mat for the second time he reached up and was able to grab hold of one of the toy. I was so excited for him. Yesterday he even reached out and grabbed one of the blocks my friend made for him that I got at my baby shower. He loved the rick rack on it. I was so excited for this little milestone for him!
