Let's Go Camping!

Kevin took the girls to the Father/Daughter Camp out.  They LOVED spending time with Dad and Grandpa.  Kaila's favorite thing was playing in the sand from the volleyball court. Addie made a new friend, Brother Bardi's granddaughter (Madeline?).  Some made fun of Kevin for coming in a motor home with his dad but who wouldn't if they could?  A bathroom steps away is priceless with a youngster.

Daddy/Daughter Pillow Talk

From Kevin's Facebook page:

Kaila (5): Can you cuddle with me longer?
Me: No, sweetie. I've read you books, told you a story and cuddled with you already.
Kaila: Please!
Me: Its a school night and you're already past bedtime. And I need to go downstairs.
Kaila: Why?
Me: To clean up and-
Kaila: (cutting me off) Don't watch any rugby without me!
Me: I won't, there are no more games until Saturday.
Kaila: Oh good. The wrong team won last time.

Haha! That girl makes me smile!

Little Nurse Kaila

Every since Daddy (Kevin) got sick Kaila has been trying to figure out ways to make him feel better and raise his spirits.  She really wanted to go in and cuddle with him but we told her she would get sick and had to stay away.  That was hard for her to understand.  Then she wanted to surprise him and make a special lunch for Kevin.  Sadly Kevin's stomach yesterday wasn't feeling well so I ended up making him some chicken broth to eat.  Again Kaila was sad since her lunch wasn't an option that she was planning making for him.  Today I noticed her sitting quietly drawing/writing in a spiral notebook (something we often see).  Later she found me and wanted to show me the book she wrote.  It was all about her Dad and her complete with pictures and describing phrases.  I LOVED it!!  She really tries her hardest to find some way to help others.  I hope she always has that desire.  It's a wonderful Christlike characteristic.

I Love Daddy!

Today I put little "shoes" on SP. They are the ones I got for 25 cents at the Other Mother's quarter sale when I was PG. SP's feet are so tiny they barely stay on right now but I couldn't resist putting them on and handing her over to DH to hold. He sure loves his little girl (even if she wakes him up at night).

Good Morning
So the potty training lasted a morning until DH got to change a blow-out in the pull up after nap. He was not happy about having the cut the side and said it was way messier. I think I will really start with him though next week since they are heading to the zoo tomorrow for DD's friend's 3rd birthday party. I plan on rolling up the area rugs and letting him run wild so he realizes when he pees. He keeps going to sit on the potty today though. It's cute and I really don't want to miss the chance to train him while he's ready! I've heard with boys you get a chance at around 18-19 months and then the next time when they are 3. I'd rather save the diaper money and do it now if he's willing.

I ventured out tonight to a meeting for church. I'm really glad I went. I was trained on my new position with the 8-9 year old girls. We do activities twice a month centered around Gospel Standards. I have a lot still to learn but I'm excited to build a relationship with the girls. After the meeting a friend and I headed to the grocery store to pick up a birthday present for tomorrow. It was SP's first time out other than going to the doctor appointments. I saw another friend there and she was shocked to see me wearing jeans. She said she didn't wear jeans till 6 weeks out. I told her it was cold though (the temp dropped this week...really feels like fall here). It was nice to get out but I was exhausted when I got back home.

When I got home DH pulled SP out of the car seat and I couldn't get over how tiny she looked his arms. I wanted to document how little she looked so I grabbed the camera.

So Tiny
Pure Love

Father/Daughter Time

Our stay in the hospital was pretty good. I didn't love being woken up at 5am and having people in constantly until around 11am though. I loved having room service though and the food was great. The postpartum nurses started out okay and thankfully got better with each shift change. One lady that came around to do my blood pressure left the door open when she came in and didn't even close it behind her. REALLY...I was in shock that she wasn't even thinking about my privacy. After that all the nurses made sure to shut my door or have the curtain drawn. The nurse that took care of me every day after I had LM came around to see how my care was and when I told her that she tried to figure out who it was. She also wasn't pleased with my story about what happened in triage regarding the story of the baby dying. Thankfully my nurse Shelly who was my second nurse and one that I had the next day was wonderful. She got me all stocked up and didn't seem to understand why things weren't ready for me. I just figured it's because that's the way she does it and know best unlike who I had before.

Thankfully things weren't ever really bad and we didn't kick any nurse out like we did previously when DD was born. SP's weight rechecks were 6lbs 15oz and then dropped to 6lbs 11oz the morning we were going home. She passed her Bilirubin test but was close to the line so they were scheduling her to be rechecked right before my mother baby appointment set for Tuesday. We have never had a kid pass it so I was really happy about that. SP was having troubles latching on for nursing and I had the lactation specialist come in. She did a little better after that but she would get lazy with her sucking and mover her bottom lip up. Finally the morning we were going home she finally started getting the hang of it!

The family reunion was great. We were able to play a lot and talk to lots of people. Sadly LM got really sick on the twisty roads up to Bear Lake. He was eating his snack and all of a sudden we heard him throw up and he it just kept happening. He threw everything up from lunch on. It was so sad. I scrubbed down the car seat cover yesterday. The kids loved the lake. DD said her favorite part was splashing in the water and LM loved shoveling the sand into his mouth over and over. It was gross but he kept doing it after I rinsed his mouth out. DD was really cute last night saw the moon just coming up the horizon and asked DH if they could sit down and watch the moon rise. It was so cute he said. She asked him if it was just like the sunrise. DH just LOVED that moment. So sweet.

Daniel one of DH's cousin's kids was the master builder with the plastic cups!

Saturday night the kids got glow sticks from Cousin Lisa and LOVED making shapes with them. The bottom right pic is Shylee one of DD's distant cousin's.

On Friday we were lucky enough to help celebrate our nephew's birthday. Sadly the kids were napping while the actual party happened but DH was there to celebrate and take pictures. The kids LOVED playing with his huge set of bubbles he received and eating the cake once they woke up.

Fun Times!

We are now in Bountiful and are visiting with my BIL and SIL. It's so nice to talk with them and see them. We are going out for breakfast in the morning and doing laundry I believe. I'm looking forward to relaxing more.
