Recap of the end of our trip

The last night we stayed at DH's friend's house we bought them dinner to say "Thank You." I didn't feel like Thai food but a salad sounded great so we went to Apple Bee's and also the Thai food place. I got my famous salad and an order of fried chicken Won Tons from the Thai place. It was all so very good! Yummy. Sean got a really spicy dish and was dying before our eyes. He claims that if he got it any more mild that the taste wasn't as good. I think he's crazy!

That evening we met up with Cheri-lyn (one of DH's friends from when he lived down there) and Visiting with Cheri-lyn and hubby. We had gone to lunch earlier with her but her husband was working so it was nice to see him again. We stayed up talking till really late. I was exhausted and was falling asleep. After they left Sean and DH left for Denny's again (a tradition that that hasn't been broken which is usually accompanied with an Irish (Pikey) or English accent for fun.) Lots of stories there so you can ask him about them if you so desire.

The nexrt morning we packed up and headed for Orange County again to for DH's niece's baptism. We got there and everyone was gone except for the parents. Grandma and Grandpa had taken all the kids out for lunch and to the park.

We went and helped pick up the gigantic cake for the party that evening and got some lunch too. DD had enough of being in the car and cried almost the whole time. We decided to stay at the house and not head to the park because we really didn't care to hear her cry more in her car seat.

When everyone got back to the house we found out that KFC didn't have any chicken when they went there. The funny thing is we went about 30 minutes later and they had chicken for us. Too funny that a place who's main food source is chicken didn't have any.

The Baptism was great. Kacey's mom gave a talk on Baptism and shared an egg experiment by sin representing the food coloring and dripped it on the egg. Then shared how we get baptized and put the egg in the "water" we are washed clean again. The coloring didn't completely come off so she had a spare egg (her husband thought that was kind of funny that she had to get a new egg). She had tried it at home previously and it worked just find. Over all she did a great job and had the attention of all the kids and adults. DD had a rough time sitting so I was up in the back with her the whole time. The baptism it's self was great though her toe came up the first time so she had to be baptized again which that time was perfect. Let she told her dad that was embarrassing. Grandma shared with her that she had to be baptized 3 times because things kept coming up a foot and then her dress. I think that helped her feel better.

After the baptism everyone (all the family members and 10 other families from church) headed back to the house for dinner and talking. It was some very yummy pasta dishes (I had seconds and wanted thirds but my tummy was too full). I met this nice lady, Kristi there who had a 5 week old baby, Sarah. I told her it was a great name! ;-) He husband is from England and his mother had come over for 6 weeks to help her out with the new baby and her 19 month-old son too. It was great to get to know them and we even talked at church the next day too in the Mother's Room.

Right before church DD was on the kitchen floor and decided to scoot over to me. It was the cutest thing. DH ran out to the car for the camera and we were able to get a video of it. I was so happy to have a mobile baby. Since she would soon be 1 she needs to learn how to move around!

At church it was the first time the ward was meeting so they had tons of new callings to announce. They said it was only half of them too. It was crazy having a new RS pres, Primary Pres, YW pres, YM pres, and other teachers called too. In RS they had the sisters go around the room and share a tidbit about themselves so they could get to know each other better. It was fun to hear from everyone. The group was a lot smaller than the previous time they met before the ward split.

After church we didn't have much time. DH's brother showed us his DBOX that he has that controls his chairs in his theater room. We watched two movies there last time we stayed there but the DBOX wasn't working at the time. The DBOX controls the chairs to tilt, turn side to side, shake, and vibrate to match what's going on with the movie. I got so sick from it (motion sickness) that I had to leave. I guess I'm the first one to have that happen. It was cool though.

We took some family pictures and a group shot and then left for the airport. Sean met us there to drop off some of the stuff we had left behind. We then checked in and went through the horrid security check point. I forgot about a little bottle of water in DD's diaper bag and I asked the lady if I could drink it and she said only if I left the building! Seriously, what's going to happen if I drink it?

We made it through eventually and found some food to eat for dinner and boarded the airplane after catching a bit of the finals basketball game. The flight was much better than the time before and the turbulence was hardly there which was comforting to me. My dad picked us up and my mom was waiting for us to say good night. She was so sweet and had a couple bananas and a glass jar of milk for us to take home so we had something for the morning to eat before we would need to head to the store.

May 31, 2008 (Saturday)

Starting Friday night DD starting throwing-up. She threw up twice and then once more in her bed. She threw-up on our bed at 6:00am (Saturday) and then again while on the floor. In total by about 2pm she had thrown up 7 times. A lot of outfits later we just left her in her diaper. I didn't feel all that great either so I only ate half a cinnamon raisin bagel. I laid down to put DD to sleep and also slept. I turned over on my stomach and felt terrible. I got up to go to the bathroom finished and turned around and puked up the bagel. It was so gross. Later I threw up again. I got DH to get me some Sprite so I slowly drank two of those and ate a bites of potatoes later that evening to help keep my milk supply up for DD. DD slept a total of 7 hours of naps. I laid on the couch all day and slept or watched some TV or laid with DD.

We were suppose to get on the airplane to fly home at 5pm, leaving at 3pm but we decided since DD and I were both feeling so terrible to fly home later and not deal with throw-up on the airplane. This pushed DH's job back another week so we decided to lengthen our trip that whole week so we could attend DH's niece's baptism on Saturday.

At about 6:30pm, when were originally suppose to be on our flight, DD had a major blowout. It went through her diaper, onesie, pants, and one me. I'm so glad that we didn't have deal with that on the airplane. I just stuck her in the bathtub with her onesie on and everything. It made it so much easier to clean up.

DH was able to socialize with all of Sean's family while they were hear for the BBQ. He played frisbee and talked with everyone. I talked with a few that came upstairs to visit but only went out a few times. I just didn't feel well at all. I hate feeling that sick flu nausea.

Here's a video that DH took while playin catch with the frisbee. He actually had to go and buy another one because they broke the first one they were using the day before.

May 30, 2008 (Friday)

In the morning I got DD and DH up to say good-bye to the girls before they left for school since we were going to be gone before they got home. (I still can't believe they got a little dog with four girls now and one on the way). I kept telling them that while we were there too. It was so sad to leave. I wish we could have more time with them. I actually wish we all lived close by together so we could see each other all the time.

I guess at school that day they were having different dress up days: blue, red, and white and cultural day. I loved the girl's outfits.

Here is DD with the cousin closest to her age. It took awhile for her to warm up but toward the end of our stay they were playing together.

I still can't believe Janna is 24 weeks PG. She doesn't look that big at all. I think I looked the way she does when I was only 3-4 months along.

We left around 10am and drove straight to visit DH's grandma one last time before we headed out the next day. She loved watching Kai. DD let her great-aunt Kay hold her too for the first time. Last time she was so clingy it didn't happen. This time it was short lived too but at least it did happen.

After our visit with grandma we headed over to Sean and Jen's to spend the night there. DH went and returned our car so we would have to worry about it the next day and they also picked up some of the yummiest tacos for em to eat too! It was delicious. The boys headed out to play Frisbee and the girls played in the backyard on the swing and on the grass and slide. We also watched the boys for a bit and then headed back inside. I helped Sean cut up some pita bread to make pita chips for the BBQ/family gathering they were having the following day.

To help keep DD occupied DH gave her his wallet to go through. She loved pulling all the cards out and shoving them around the couch. After that she then tossed them one by one onto the floor. It was cute to watch.

May 29, 2008 (Thursday)

This morning I was going to make French Toast for everyone before school but I forgot to set my alarm. I got up at 7:15 but was told we would just make it later that morning. David made his special French Toast which was so yummy. I told him that he needs to open his own restaurant or to create a cookbook with all his secrets. DH made bacon the best he could in a pan. We had blackberries and strawberries too. It was my favorite breakfast meal. Yummy!

While everyone was making breakfast I played a Cinderella game with one of the girls and DD played on the floor with the pooh train.

That day DH and decided to head to Newport to see the Temple that was just built there a few years ago and then to show DD the beach. It only took us about 30 minutes to get there. DD napped on the way there which was great so she would be happy. She was still asleep when we arrived at the temple so we got a few pics of her asleep but then all of a sudden I looked down and she was smiling up at me. She's the best when she wakes up. We got more pics of her awake and walked around the temple taking some pictures here and there.

We then headed to Newport Beach. This was my first actual California beach too that DH showed me on our first visit down for our first anniversary. We saw some surfers in the water and walked down the Newport pier. After watching the surfers catch a few waves we took DD down to the sand and the water. She loved it so much. She cried when we took her out to go.

After the beach we headed to DH's sister, Renee's house for one last visit before he headed home. DD got her first b-day present from them. She wasn't into opening the present which I thought she would be. I guess we will have to see what she does at her party in two weeks. She got some great bibs from them that have sleeves on them too! I was so excited.

While driving around I was going to try and finish up all the girl's knitting projects. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find my blue plastic sewing needle to finish them up and had to wait for my SIL to get me the ones she bought. When we made it back to David's house, Janna was running the girls to get ready for their talent show that night and saving us seats. I wasn't able to get the needle from her until after the talent show.

The talent show was lots of fun. The two girls did a great job and it was actually a very talented school. DH commented on how nice it was for it to be cool to have a talent. I never thought about it until he mentioned that but he's right. The talent show didn't get over until after 9pm which made our desicion to stay one more night. We had planned on heading back over the DH's Aunt's house but we weren't packed and I had to finish the knitting projects.

May 28, 2008 (Wednesday)

Today I was able to meet up with one of my online friends that I made through a PG board. We have helped each other through our pregnancy symptoms and through raising our children so far. We have been talking together for over a year and a half. It was like I have always known her and her son. We met up at the Irvine Spectrum Mall and ate at the Yard House. I tried their new grilled cheese sandwich and soup. DD liked it a little bit but reached over and grabbed the spinach dip from off my plate (my friend's appetizer that she was generously sharing with us). I guess she really wanted it and loved it! She ate more and more.

It was a great visit and DH had fun too. We took some pictures and it was fun to see the kids together. He little guy was born 2 weeks after DD was. I just love his hair. Probably because DD really doesn't have much yet.

After eating we headed to look threw a few of the shops. We were able to find DD a swim suit with a rash guard top with sleeves! I have been looking for one at home forever and could only find one in the girl's section and not in the babies area.

While we were sitting down for dinner of yummy "David's Ham", broccoli, and baked potatoes their youngest daughter threw-up. Luckily she was wearing a bib so the were able to catch most of it in there so it made for easy clean-up. She didn't even cry or anything. She actually was very happy. She had a popsicle for dinner instead. Our dinner was so yummy. I tried getting DD to eat broccoli again but she wouldn't have it. I don't think she likes the texture of it. She did love the potatoes though!

As everyone was getting ready for bed the littlest threw-up again. Luckily in the sink. We were hoping it was just a fluke with the one time but the second time we knew she must be sick now. I hope DD doesn't get it. She is on antibiotics for her ear infection but as DH reminded me that doesn't keep viral infections away.

May 24, 2008 (Saturday)

I can't believe I came all the way to "sunny" California and it's cold and rainy here. I didn't pack for this type of weather and I'm freezing! It's suppose to warm up next week and I sure hope it does!

Tomorrow we are heading to OC for church with DH's brother's family and then we are going to San Diego for the night to see my little sister. She drove out with a group of friends for Phoenix and I'm so excited to see her. I haven't seen her since Christmas and DD has changed so much since then. It will be a lot of driving and I hope DD will be able to handle it.

DD did horrible last night. She woke up at 2:30 and cried until 4:30. Her crying is really loud and it's hard to sleep through when she's in the same room as us. I think that's half the problem! I hope tonight goes better. I feel slightly bad since we aren't in our own place. I hate keeping everyone up but she has to learn that she can't sleep with us all night.

Here's a funny story from last night (Friday to Saturday):

Last night when DD first woke up DH brought her to bed to try to get her back to sleep when rocking her wasn't working. She fell asleep and then turned and was kicking DH in the face and then in the back. She literally kicked him out of his side of the bed and slept lengthwise. He was forced to sit at the end of the bed and tried to sleep that way. I woke up when I noticed he was trying to turn her or move her (that's what I thought he was doing). I moved my legs so he could take her to her bed more easily than going to the bottom of the bed. I told him he could have the bottom of the bed and he's said, "Ah, that's a great idea and proceeds to lay down to sleep at the end of the bed." I was shocked! I told him no that was for him to move her and so I went to pick her up and found that she had completely invaded his entire area. I picked her up and put her in the crib and she started crying. I honestly didn't care. I couldn't believe this 11-month old child of mine was kicking her daddy out of bed! That's just not right. I thought to myself that she could cry in her crib but he was going to have HIS bed! That's when she cried for 45 minutes. DH ran to the store to buy more Tylenol since we could find ours thinking that might help her with her ears but by the time he got back she had stopped which was good for him. He can't handle her crying (or sleep through it) as well as I can.

So throughout the day I still would burst out laughing at the thought of DH thinking it was a great idea to sleep at the end of the bed.

Today we mostly just talked and visited at Sean's house. His wife was sick in bed all day which was sad. Luckily I had to finish up the two purses I was knitting for our nieces' birthdays which we are celebrating on Monday. I first had to go to Micheal's Craft store to get another set of needles because somewhere from the plane to the house I lost one of them. They were out of the needle I need (bummer) but I was able to get a short pair that was the same size and thankfully they were long enough for my project. Zoe loved the purses so I decided to make her a small one out of my left over yarn. I started her's right before leaving for dinner and finished it only a little while after we got back to their house. Sean was shocked.

For dinner we met up with Sean's parents at Famous Dave's. We had to wait forever to get in and for our food but we had some yummy BBQ wings and mashed potoatoes. DD did really well considering how long we were there for. She ate half her bowl of mac 'n cheese and almost all of her mash potatoes.

Mary read to the girls while we were waiting to be seated. I think she read through about 8 of our books. They loved the break in between all the waiting.

After dinner we walked over to Barnes and Noble to get a b-day photography book for DH's sister and found a few other treasures there as well. I just love book stores. I wish I had more money to buy more books especially for DD. She just loves books. I think they are her preferred form of entertainment.

May 25, 2008

Sunday morning we woke up and packed up all our things. I discovered that my deodorant went missing when all of the little cousin's came to the house for a party the day before. DH's uncle warned us that things might be missing. He was finding random things all over the house.

Once on the road DD fell asleep almost immediately. It was 9:30am so we figured we would get to David's by around 11am. Sadly they redid an interchange and DH took the wrong exit which placed us almost to San Diego. We then had to turn around and that doubled our trip time. It gave DD a 2 hour nap though. We finally made it to their house (a new one since the last time we were down). We barely had time to get ready for church. We took their oldest daughter with us to church with us. Their ward was getting switched that day so they were doing church backwards (RS/Priesthood, Sunday School, then Sacrament Meeting). It was fun seeing DH's sister Rene again. I talked with her a little during RS. I haven't' seen her for over 5 years. It was really interesting to see them split the ward. That area 6 years ago had only 300 members and today has over 1,000! Their ward filled the entire chapel and gym! It looked like it was Stake Conference instead of a ward meeting.

After church we changed clothes and headed down to La Jolla to meet up with my Sister. DD took another 1 hour nap too. We got there in about 45 minutes and she wasn't even back from the beach yet. We decided to head over to Rock Bottom where we were going to eat dinner and she just had them drop her off over there. My food was great (fillet Mignon, Bec got the same and I finished hers off too along with mine). Poor DH's pizza wasn't good but he ate it all anyway since he was hungry. DD was terrible during dinner and wanted to be held standing up. She wouldn't eat any of her noodles or fruit and only ate half my mashed potatoes. After we were finished eating and waiting the half hour for our bill and for them to pick it back up she got really happy and would finally sit.

After dinner we saw the group Bec was with (they too were eating there). It was nice to put a few more faces to names. We then headed down to the beach to see the ocean and some seals. The sun was setting when we got there. It was beautiful! It was cold though so we didn't stay long. DD loved the sound of the waves hitting the rocks. It was her first time seeing the ocean. She didn't even seem bothered by the cold temperatures. She is definitely her daddy's daughter.

We headed back to the car and drove a little further south down the ocean front and stopped to get out and see all the seals in the cove. Many were sleeping, two were kissing, two were riding the waves back in to shore, and a little baby was waddling around. It was so cute.

We went back to Bec's hotel room so she could shower. I fed DD and then DH and Bec headed to the store for some deodorant for me and dessert. While they were gone DD got a hold of a water bottle that I thought the lid was on all the way but the next thing I know I saw a puddle of water. She had shaken almost all the water out of it on to her lap and blanket. Silly girl. When they got back we played Uno and thankfully DD was very happy the whole evening. DH and drove to our hotel and DD fell asleep almost immediately which was great since it was 11pm. We checked in and headed up to the 12th floor. Our city view was of the brick wall of the building. The hotel is really neat since it's been converted from an old bank. They even have a vault room that's a meeting room. I unpacked and DH headed to bed and I stayed up a little and then put DD in her PNP.

Here's a video of DD playing "peek-a-boo" at Bec's hotel room.

Over all it was a wonderful day!
