Sweet note from Vaughn

Happy Mothers day to the mothers of my grandchildren.  You are all amazing.  I'm so grateful for the loving sacrifices that you make to be the best mothers that my grandchildren could ever have.  They are growing up secure in the knowledge that they have a mother who loves them and always wants the best for them.  Never mind that in your eyes you don't always live up to all that you would like to be.  In their eyes you are perfect and exemplify all that they can aspire to.  And, in you they see the path to attain those goals.  Thank you so much more than I can ever express.

All my love,

Dad/Vaughn

New Love=Pain

DH and his dad finally got my 2010 Mother's Day present put together in our house. I have been wanting a bed frame FOREVER and came across this one at my parents house in the barn. It had seen some bad weather since it was by an open door but I figured for FREE it was worth working on. DH decided to give that to me for my Mother's Day present but came down with the flu a day before finishing it. I told him it could wait and to get better but that has resulted in a delay in receiving my gift. I do say it's been worth the wait and I LOVE it. Though one thing that comes from something new is understanding my new boundaries while going around our bed. Sadly my poor right thigh is taking a beating. OUCH!

Wonderful Mother's Day weekend

Our weekend was wonderful. Saturday DH had a talk with DD about her being excited for a baby sister. He discovered while talking to her that she thought a baby sister was a boy. He asked her twice if her sister was a boy or girl --then girl or boy, and she said a boy both times. When he said no, it's a girl and she'll have a sister like her friend Karley has two sisters she got the biggest grin on her face and was excited. I didn't realize she didn't understand that concept.

The baptism was great but it was a LONG drive especially with two accidents along the way. It should have been 1 hour and ended up being 20 minutes longer both ways. It was crazy there was so much traffic for a Saturday.

On our way home DD wanted to go play and Grandma and Grandpa's house. We were so tired that we just wanted to go home so I had her call Grandma and ask if she could come over and play. Grandma said she couldn't come and DD puckered her lower lip and started bawling! It was crazy. Poor grandma said she couldn't handle that and said she would be over in half and hour after her cake was finished baking. DD had fun with Grandma and then she invited us over for dinner (yummy enchilada's). The kids loved playing on their trampoline and swing set. DH took his dad to see Iron Man 2 at the theater afterward for his birthday present and I took the kids home and put them to bed and fell asleep just a little after they did on the couch. I only woke up long enough when I heard DH come through the door to say "your home" and put a pillow over my head. I slept so sound I never woke up until 4am.

Sunday was wonderful. I got woken up by LM climbing up on my bed to give me a BIG hug and kiss. How sweet is that? Then DD followed behind and gave me one too. I just love my kids. DH was hard at work in the kitchen cooking breakfast and I stayed in bed reading till it was ready. I got to relax all day and finished reading my book while DH took care of all the major needs of the kids. It was wonderful. Church was nice too since DH took LM home (he has a little cold) so I was able to listen to all the lessons. We went to my parents house for dinner and DH's parents came over too. It was so nice to have everyone at the same place. The kids loved it. We sang Happy Birthday to DH's dad (MIL made his favorite lemon cake) and the mom's opened their presents and DH's dad got his birthday gift. It was a wonderful evening.

One of my friends was asking how I have so much energy to do everything I do. I don't know where I get the energy though. I just keep going and don't stop because once I do I'll crash. That's how I made it through yesterday but I took the day off and stayed in my PJ's all day and didn't do much until this afternoon/evening after I got a nap with the kids.

I just started another book (the squeal to the other book I just finished) last night and I'm already sucked in and reading more than I should and it keeps me up too. My friend loves them and recommended them to me. I finally finished some of the other books I was reading so I asked her for them and now that’s all I want to do…read (not good with all the packing that needs to be done).

I got Grandpa's b-day present finished. I made him some blocks like what I did a few weeks ago for our family. I hope he likes them. I had the kids paint pictures for the grandma's and grandpa for his b-day. It was LM's first time water color painting and he LOVED it. He figured out how to do it pretty quickly too but was finished by the time we got to the last picture to do. I just love his serious expression in the bottom picture. DD spent a lot of time making her pictures. She wanted them just so and is really becoming the little artist. It's so cute to watch.

Mother's Day in the making...

Today for preschool we worked on some Mother's Day cards/gifts. It was fun and I think they turned out really cute. I'll have DD make two more for here grandma's and now I'm glad to know I'm through with that. I have one more idea for the kids to make but we will have to see if I'm ambitious enough to do it. ;)

Happy Mother's Day!!

May 10, 2009

Today was such fun. DH tried to make me breakfast in bed but I woke up to soon and he didn't know how to make the mix for the French Toast so I helped him. It was too cute. It was yummy though. The card DD got for me was one of the recorded ones but when I pressed the button there wasn't anything there. DH was devastated! He had her record it again yet again it wasn't there. He tested it and it worked. We finally got her talking on it for memories sake. He said the first time he recorded it she said Mother's on it. I felt so bad for DH since all his plans and preparations weren't working for him. It's the thought that counts though. My present from him won't be coming/or getting until Wednesday. I can't wait to see what it will be. He did make ribs for dinner that were yummy with honey buttered rolls. We had dessert at my parents (strawberries and whip cream over angel cake). It was so yummy and the best was just visiting with my mom.

Dinner DH made for me! Yummy.

The kids were great for us at church too. LM went 4 hours between feedings (took two naps!) so I didn't miss out on any of the lessons. DD sat well and was quiet. I ended up having to teach Sunday School (which I've NEVER had to do on Mother's Day but I think the men forgot to get subs for us). I also took on another class and ended up with 17 kids!!! YES- 17. They got DH to come in and help me manage the kids which ended up being a good thing since one kid had an issue. It turned out well and I was able to put my college education degree to work. I made up a lesson off the top of my head. We made a letter to our mom's or wrote them a poem (some did both) and then I did a mini lesson on "Establish...a house of God." It turned out fairly well and one of my students even said so as I was leaving church. Another students parent (from the other class) called to thank me too. It was very sweet.
DD reading her brother a book before church!
She's so thoughtful. I just love my children!!!!

May 9, 2009

I find it so funny that a friend of mine (across the country) BOUGHT a blackberry bush! They grow here like crazy (wild) and we are trying to kill them off and get rid of them. They do produce some yummy berries though. It's just funny to think of purposely growing them.

We are heading out to celebrate b-days/mother's day with the DH's side of the family. We are also checking on our food storage and 72 hour kits. It will be nice to get those done and stuff for the kids too! On our way out I'm hoping to stop by the farmers market and see the booth my friend has selling the purses/bags she knits and sews. She's so talented and I want to help support her.

(later that day)
I'm so excited for Mother's Day tomorrow. DH's making ribs for dinner and then we are going to my parents for Strawberry cream roll! YUMMY. It will be a wonderful and hopefully relaxing day.

We had fun tonight at the family gathering. DD can climb up the play structure they have and get down the slid all by herself. I didn't know if she would be able to climb up since it's a steep ladder but she did. She's growing up so fast. She hated the annual Christmas Tree bond fire. I think she was afraid of the heat and all the flames. It's a fun tradition though and after I told her it's okay that I was holding her she relaxed. LM was a chatter box with everyone and was easily tickled. He's such a social little guy. I think I got a little burnt from the sun since I'm a little itchy but hopefully it's not too bad. Overall it was a wonderful evening. I have such a wonderful extended family.

---------------------------------------------
Today I found out (I guess LM's done it for awhile now and never let me in on the secret) but DD HATES being hit on the foot. It worked today since she kept kicking me while I was trying to change her. She gets her feelings all hurt and stops.

So we use to put DD in her room for time out and she hated it for about 2 weeks until she discovered she could just play with her toys. Now we are back to time out but in the corner (for the past week or so) and she actually put herself in the corner on her own so we just went with it.
