Today I went to go out to the garage to get more wipes and saw by garage door an empty tootsie roll wrapper. I asked Glenn and Addie who ate the candy and left the wrapper there. Glenn quickly said not me. I asked Addie and she said she didn't eat it. Glenn said Addie ate it. I looked at Glenn and said, "Addie doesn't eat chocolate. She wouldn't have eaten this candy." I looked at Glenn and asked, "Did you eat this candy." He shook his head no. I asked, "Did you eat this candy yesterday." He then said, "yes." I looked at him and repeated, "Did you eat this candy." He again said no. I then explained to him that if he put it in his mouth either today or yesterday the answer to that question is Yes! It has nothing to do with which day he ate it.
Oh, boy. This boy is very literal! I'm going to have to watch how I word things to him in the future. I now wonder how many things I have asked that he answer in the present tense and not just in general. Oh boy.
