We woke up to a snow day with no snow (well it was barely falling, little tiny flakes). The weather predicted a bad storm coming. It did come around 11:30am. The kids first enjoyed scraping together as much of the flakes as they could to make snowballs. Each made one snowball. Glenn saved his in the fridge which he showed Makenna when she came over to play with Kaila for a bit. I rescued it and put it in the freezer. :-)
Later the kids enjoyed sledding down out hill in the back with all the freezing rain coming down. Glenn stayed out there the longest (tough little guy). He and Addie started first while Kaila was gone at Makenna's playing outside and Barbies inside. Once she came home she warmed up a bit and held Rowan for me so I could snap a few pics of the kids. I didn't last very long. I didn't enjoy being hit with the freezing rain but the kids LOVED all the sledding. Those sleds were a great investment at Costco a few years ago! After getting their pics I helped Kaila get bundled up in snow gear and then she went out as Addie came in. I grabbed a few more pics and videos of her playing and then retreated to the warmth inside.
I'm so glad they enjoyed the "snow" or ice day. I thought I was going to go crazy the first couple hours with the kids all fighting with each other and there wasn't really any "snow" to send them out to play with. I'm so glad something came so they could get out and release all their energy and give me some quiet time as well. :-)
After awhile we did venture out to go to the Mt. Hood Theater to see the movie Planes 2. Glenn was so excited to see this one ever since he saw it listed on the movies showing this time. I called Mom, Nana, to see if she'd like to go since my Dad is out hunting again. She did so picked her up on the way. I told her I wanted to leave at 4 since the roads were bad and wanted to have plenty of time to get there but it ended up taking me 20 minutes to deice the car. I wasn't thinking of needing to do that. I'm so glad I was planning on leaving early.
The movie was great. Rowan stayed awake during the entire show which was shocking. He was great even with being awake. I got popcorn for everyone to enjoy too so that was a fun little treat. I picked up some KFC on the way home since I've been craving it since doing Game On. We also stopped by Fred Meyer so Mom could get a few things and then we went home. It was slow going but thankfully everyone was going slowly too.
Once we dropped Nana off, backing, or I should say "sliding", into her driveway so she could more easily get to the grass to not slip it took a bit to get the car out and able to drive down the road. I'm so glad we made it safely home. I know God was watching over us. Kevin made it home from Portland shortly after we got home. He said it was the weirdest thing to have nothing in Portland but as soon as you get into Troutdale there was all this snow and ice. We got a good inch or two of ice here.
