First for First

I can't believe my little baby is in first grade!  Where oh where has the time gone.  She's been so excited and has been asking for weeks when she gets to start school again.  I'm so glad she LOVES school and isn't scared to go.  How I love her.  Grandma Suzi came over to watch the little two while I took her over since Kevin was leaving at 8:15 to start work.

We walked over and there was a mass amount of parents in line for filling out the paperwork of how their child was getting home from school.  I forgot the paper I had filled out so I grabbed another one.  After handing that in we headed to Mrs. Taylor's class.  Kaila had gone to her room at the end of Kindergarten to meet her teacher and see what kids were in her class. Such a smart idea to help alleviate some of the anxiety of the first day of school.

She found her seat and where to hang her bag #13 and was able to color her gumball machine with her new crayons.  I got some pics of her meeting her teacher again and with some of her neighborhood friends who are also in her class. :-)

One sweet little girl, Brooklyn that we meet at a swim party earlier this summer was struggling having her mom leave.  Tears were streaming down her face.  He poor mother was beside herself since she needed to take her other daughter to middle school in just 15 minutes.  I told her I would stay with Brooklyn and thankfully Brooklyn was fine with that.  She started coloring and then I thought was was fine and said I was going to leave and the tears started again.  I told her I would stay till she was ready.  Eventually I got up and talked with Kaila for a minute and the teacher was over and I said I was going to leave since Brooklyn seemed fine without me being right beside her.  I asked Kaila to help Brooklyn and to sit by her at lunch and play with her at recess.  She said she would which I knew she would.  She's such a loving soul and wants to help take care of everyone.  With that I was out the door walking back home.

Kaila's old Kindergarten teacher stuck her head out the door when she saw me.  It was so good to see her.  I'm going to miss working with her this year.  She's an excellent teacher.  I hope that Mrs. Taylor will allow Vaughn and I to work as much as we did last year this year in her class too.  I really enjoyed getting to know the other kids and seeing the growth with each of them.  :-)

Kaila forgot her lunchbox at school so we walked back but it was fun to
get some pictures of the displays by her classroom door.

Finished with her first day!  So excited and happy.  No tears shed either!
