A day of firsts!

July 23, 2009

So yesterday I asked DD which outfit to put on her brother. She looks at them, picks up her doll out of the stroller she had been pushing around, takes the dolls hand, touches both outfits with the dolls hand and then has the doll choose one. It was cute and funny!

As DD was playing I noticed she stopped and got a focused look on her face. I just knew she was pooping so I took her to the bathroom and sat her on the big toilet and she pooped a little. She was so excited and said she was done. I knew she wasn't though since it wasn't much at all. I put her little seat on the potty and told her to push some more and she did. I gave her a smarties candy for every little poop. It was so exciting and she was VERY proud of herself.

We went to the park and played. It was a wonderfully cool morning (I was able to get the house cooled down) but then the cloud cover burned off and it got HOT. It was fun visiting with my friends though and DD had a blast playing with hers. She had to take her shoes off at the end of our play time too which I told her would hurt her feet (she wouldn't listen and I kept finding her shoes everywhere. Finally she started crying and was walking on the sides of her feet. I picked her up and wiped them off with a cool baby wipe. I think she finally understood what I was telling her.

We put LM down in his crib in his own room for the first time last night! It was bitter sweet. DH and I loved being able to really talk to each other at night (something we both love to do) but I missed being able to look over and see my little boy sleeping there. We got the summer video monitor and I LOVE it!!! It was wonderful to look at him. I especially love zooming in on him. He woke up for his ritual--at least the past few weeks--midnight holding/rocking time and then slept till 2:30 and I fed him. He woke up at 4:30 and DH tried getting him back to sleep but after only a few minutes he woke up again so I went in and fed him (he fell asleep at his 2:30 session so I figured he was still hungry and he was). I just slept in there with him until 6:30 and then put him in his crib and went to bed and DH brought him to me at 7:30 to eat again. It went fairly well and THANKFULLY he didn't wake DD up. That was DH's biggest fear. Maybe tonight will go even better.

Today was cool for the majority of the day so I was able to get LOTS of laundry done (I think I folded 7 loads or more) and did dishes and worked on deep cleaning everything. I was even able to vacuum half the house which was awesome. I tutored a girl in math too for 4 hours (I think we pushed it all little too much since her brain was hurting afterward and you could see it in her eyes). It's nice to be in the teaching mood again! I just love it. It makes me slightly miss work but I just LOVE being with my kids.

Stamping Thank You card for all her birthday gifts.

Play date at Kelly Creek play ground. DD and Andrew hit it off!
I finished an accent wall in DD's room.
She Loves it and so do I!

Big sister is reading to her brother!

First time sleeping in his own room!

LM is sitting up longer and longer. He's sits now for probably a good 5 minutes sometimes without toppling over. He's grabbing on to everything (DD's hair, my hair, DD's food, toys, bars, anything close and in his reach). It's so cute to watch him. He loved playing with DD's little farm color popper toy (I can't remember the name of it..). I still can't believe that he's now 6 months! He'll soon be a big boy.

I BF so that makes a little difference but growth spurts, illness, and vacation have messed LM up royally so I've been trying to get him back on schedule and the past month I think he finally is somewhat. I did have him pretty much on a schedule too at only a couple weeks old. He kind of did it himself though.

Here's his basic schedule:
8am-- up and BF
10-- nap (for 1-2 hours)
11-12 wakes up and BF
12:30pm-- rice cereal while DD and I eat
1-2pm--Naps for 2-3 hours
3-4pm--up and BF
5-6pm-- May take a nap (30-45 minutes)
7pm-- BF
9pm--BF and down for the night
(BF through the night generally at between 2-4am and then at 6am or so and up at 8am)

He plays in between all those times.

LM trying to crawl yesterday (ends up rolling though as he tries)
